Auction of Promises
The Auction of Promises starts on Friday 13th November until 5pm on Sunday 15th November. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the roof fund.

To Bid
On Facebook - Comment under the photo of the individual promise/lot you wish to buy. The highest value bid at 5pm on Sunday will be the winning bid.
Not on Facebook? - You can still participate! If you would like to place a bid on a specific lot, please email the name of the lot and your maximum amount you are willing to pay to becksteredge@gmail.com where a bid will be placed on your behalf.
Once bidding has closed the highest bidder will be contacted by a member of the church fundraising team to arrange payment (preferably direct bank transfer).
Promises will be delivered free of charge in the local area at the bidder's and donor's convenience.
All promises have been given and must be taken in accordance to the current government COVID-19 guidelines at the time.
Lots / Promises are...
LOT 1 –2 sessions x 1 hour of gardening (kindly donated by Sue Whyte). Not very green fingered? Or don’t have the time. Give your garden a mini makeover with this lot.
LOT 2 – Guided walk of the local area (kindly donated by Sue Whyte).
LOT 3 – £25 voucher for Afternoon Tea at The Village Bakery Wheelton - (kindly donated by Rosie Goodwin). The winning bidder can choose to take the afternoon tea inside after lockdown, collect it between 11am and 2pm from the shop, or we can arrange for it to be delivered.
LOT 4 – Papa Luigi’s voucher for £20 plus bottle of prosecco (anonymous donation). Fancy a takeaway? Or a family meal out to celebrate the end of lockdown? A meal from/at Papas
is the perfect treat, together with a bottle of fizz to help with the festivities!
LOT 5 – Dog Goodie basket (kindly donated by It’s a Dog’s Life Walking services Chorley). Lots of treats for your canine friends!
LOT 6 – Christmas Hamper (kindly donated by Pat & John Edge). Jam packed with festive goodies for yourself to enjoy or why not give as a special gift this Christmas?

LOT 8 – Decorated 7-inch round rich fruit cake Christmas Cake (kindly donated Betty Halliwell). Beautiful cake and looks so tasty! Will be parcelled up with a bow for something extra special this Christmas.
LOT 9– Dog walking 5 sessions x 1 hour. To be taken Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Kindly donated by Mandy Clifford
LOT 10 – Personalised painted Christmas pebble (painted by Lymm Rocks founder Helen Nelson). This rock can be personalised with up to 6 names. A perfect festive gift or home ornament
LOT 11 – 2 hours primary school tuition (by Adele Thomson). Perfect for brushing up on those tricky areas.
LOT 12 – 8 hours of genealogy research (by Barbara McManus).Details will be entered onto Ancestry, with support references kept and made available so that they can be used for the successful bidder to progress their results later should they wish to. Details will be obtained from the successful bidder either by forms available, or via a phone conversation. (Normal costs for this type of work would be between £15 & £50 per hour)
LOT 13 – Homemade Afternoon tea for 2 comprising assorted sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, and homemade cakes. Delivered to the successful bidder’s home (local area). Kindly donated by Annabelle Armstrong
LOT 14 – Car washing (kindly donated by Nick Ward, Headteacher at Euxton CE Primary). Who doesn’t want to see the headteacher work for you? Ably assisted by his son Ethan
LOT 15 – 6 hours of gardening /building furniture / moving house / manual labour / DIY as required!!!! (by Martin Shaw 10am-4pm midweek) Perfect opportunity to get those jobs done that didn’t even get done in lockdown.
LOT 16 – Dog walking sessions x 3 (from John Thompson. Dogs to be happy to be with someone unfamiliar and manageable). Great if you are short on time or know someone who needs a hand.
LOT 17 – Country walk x 3 sessions (from John Thompson. Walk with an experienced walker taking care of you, as short or long as you like, as hilly or flat as you like! Covid restrictions to be adhered to)
LOT 18 – Teepee sleepover for 2. This could be used as a same family sleepover, or if restrictions are lifted, a birthday party for two friends during 2021 for people living in Chorley or Leyland. It could also be gifted by the winner to someone else. There are lots of different themes to choose from. The value of this set up would be £70plus a couple of extras to make the experience even more magical!!!!!!! (Arrangements for the dates of the sleepover to be made directly with the person who wins the auction for a date next year). Kindly donated by Teepee Sleepee Events
LOT 19 - Beginner’s lesson in Microsoft Excel, Word or One Note (or provide a consultation as to how someone might utilise these better for their home / business (kindly donated by Charlotte Everitt – over Zoom, or in person if restrictions lift).
LOT 20 – Signed shirt from Wigan Warriors Rugby League (kindly donated by Danielle Wearden). Perfect Christmas present for the rugby fans – Warriors lifted the 2020 League Leaders’ Shield last week at Headingley. Authentic brand new shirt (no certificate) signed only last week.
LOT 21 – Batch of 9 sweet muffins monthly for 3 months (kindly donated by Revd Jo Smith). Surely these will taste ‘heavenly’?
LOT 22 – Voucher for a free 6” cake (see examples) bookable until the end of 2021 worth £60 from Bakes by Emily How amazing do these cakes look? Perfect for that extra special birthday / celebration. They taste fantastic too!!!
LOT 23 – Half day DIY / mending or fixing things (not including plumbing or decorating). Kindly donated by John Thompson. Another opportunity to get those niggly jobs done
LOT 24 - Upgrade an existing suitable PC or laptop to Windows 10 / Provide a new superfast SSD M2 storage device, backup and restore existing data to the new drive location. (In addition, Security and safety advice is available. If required we can look at an upgrade to add more RAM and perform any device upgrades required.) Kindly donated by Lee Goodwin
LOT 25 – Afternoon tea for 2 at The Mill St Catherine’s (kindly donated by Janice Smith). A lovely venue which serves delicious afternoon teas, perfect post lockdown treat.
LOT 26 - Baking once a week for a month -12 cupcakes/ traybake / large cake (kindly donated by Janice Smith). Treat the family or surprise a friend with some home baked goods!
LOT 27 - £20 Love2Shop vouchers (kindly donated by Gill Steele) with a bottle of prosecco. With a wide range of high street stores to choose from, these are great for Christmas shopping, or even to give as a gift. With a bottle of prosecco thrown in to enjoy whilst you browse online!

A chance to find some organisation at home in the chaos, and to provide a helping hand during difficult and stressful times. This lot should allow you to regain a sense of calm and balance at home.
