Prayers for Ukraine - updated 24th March

From the Bishop of Blackburn (22nd March) prayer opportunities...
First, the Diocese in Europe are holding a half-hour Vigil and Service of Prayer for Ukraine via Zoom each Wednesday until 13 April, at 5pm GMT, to which all are invited. Each vigil will include testimony from some part of the diocese affected directly by the crisis. Second, there is an international initiative for Christians in different countries of the world to stop at different hours of the day to pray for peace, so that there is a continuous chain of prayer through the day. Christians in the UK are invited to stop what they are doing at 3pm each day to pray. This idea is based on an initiative by an adviser to Winston Churchill during the dark days of the Second World War. You may like to use my prayer, repeated at the end of this letter, at this time.

All Age Prayers
At our all age service (27th February), we asked children and families to write prayers for Ukraine. If you are unsure how to pray for Ukraine, we hope these prayers can inspire you in your own prayer.

The Diocesan prayer for Ukraine is...
Almighty God, seated above all the affairs of humankind and sovereign over nations and leaders, hear our prayer for Ukraine at this time of war; that lives may be spared, that national boundaries be respected and that forces of aggression be restrained. Grant, Lord God, peace in your world in our time. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen

A Warm Welcome

The following information is specifically for those planning to visit us for the first time, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

All our services take place in the Church Building on Wigan Road.

We have a car park on School Lane, Euxton.
For church - there is a footpath from the car park, which brings you out in the church grounds.
For church community centre - the entrance is opposite the car park entrance (across School Lane).

When you arrive, you will be greeted by one of our welcomers who will happily welcome you and answer any questions.

Our Services on a Sunday

8am BCP Holy Communion
9.15am All Age Service
11am Morning Prayer / Holy Communion

Whilst each of our services is different, you can expect a warm welcome; relevant preaching based in the Word of God and a friendly group of people ready to learn more about what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

8am BCP Holy Communion - is a quiet, said service using traditional language.
9.15am All Age - a lively service, interactive with worship songs.
11am - more traditional, liturgical service with hymns.

Children of all ages are welcome in every service (though some services are more geared towards families e.g. 9.15am All Age).

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

What about my children?

Children are welcome at all of our services, though some are more aimed towards children and families.

Wednesday's in term time - Early Birds at 9.15am in church (for pre-schoolers and their carers).

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.

There is wheelchair access to church, and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the sidespeople know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There is a toilet at the front of church with level access from outside.
